MCCS International are committed to providing services that guarantee the safety and efficiency of critical infrastructure. A prime example of this commitment is our recent project in Malaysia, where we provided specialised helium leak testing services for a heat exchanger system (CPOC). Completed in 2025, this project highlights the crucial role of our services in ensuring the leak-tight integrity of vital industrial equipment before it goes into operation.
What is Helium Leak Detection?
Heat exchangers are the workhorses of many industrial processes, responsible for transferring heat between two or more fluids. Their efficiency and safety are hugley important, with just a small leak can leading to significant problems. MCCS International utilises a highly effective helium leak testing method. This process is recognised as the most accurate method for pinpointing and quantifying system leaks, ensuring to help ensure safe operating conditions are maintained.
Our approach offers a range of key advantages:
Precision with Helium Leak Detection: Helium leak detection is recognised as the most accurate method for pinpointing and quantifying system leaks, crucial for both system integrity and personnel safety.
Identification and Immediate Action: Leaks, described as unwanted openings that compromise system safety, are swiftly identified through helium leak testing. This can then be immediately actioned through specialised offshore maintenance services like bolting, and is taken for rectification and repairs.
Superior Sensitivity: Compared to conventional methods, helium leak testing, particularly with sample probe technology, offers superior sensitivity, detecting smaller leaks with higher accuracy.
Efficiency and Time Saving: Helium leak testing proves less time-consuming than alternative methods, making it a practical choice for comprehensive offshore maintenance and testing.
Helium’s Unique Properties: The use of Helium is attributed to its inert, non-reactive nature, scarcity in the atmosphere, light atomic mass unit, non-toxicity, and viscosity relative to hydrocarbon gas. This makes it one of the safest ways to detect leaks, as it is unlikely to burn or react with leaking gasses.
Mass Spectrometer Technology: Employing Mass Spectrometer technology, helium presence is accurately detected, providing an auditable report confirming system safety and integrity as per ISO 9001 standards.
By partnering with MCCS International, our clients can have confidence that their critical equipment, like the heat exchangers at CPOC, will perform reliably and safely from day one.
This project stands as a testament to our expertise and dedication to delivering solutions that protect assets, people, and the environment.
